Evaluation Question 7

Looking back at your preliminary task what do you feel you have learned in the progression from it to the product ?

In the preliminary task, were given a list of camera shots that you can use effectively to make a good thriller opening. In the completed thriller, we were using these techniques more innovatively to build an opening to a thriller.

This is our shot reverse shot

During the progression from the preliminary task to the completed thriller, I have learnt how to demonstrate Match-on-action, 180 Degree Rule, Shot/Reverse shot, Eyeline Match and we had performed some of these techniques successfully. I have also learnt how each of these shots generally make the thriller more interesting and engaging for the audience to watch.

From there we went on to adapting the shot so that it suited to our thriller and its needs

So, in our thriller it wasnt effective to do shoulder to shoulder in a moving car. It wouldn't work. So we made a progression where you can see both shoulders in the car and still listen to the convo that is happening. Facial expressions can also be interpreted.
The skills i gained was that i was able to know what would work well in different shots and what did thats why we took many shots just in case so when we looked at the editing we picked out the best angles and what worked well with the film.
